A Living Path of Practice

Terry’s approach brings together meditation, mindful movement, martial arts, Qigong, reflective inquiry, and everyday awareness. His teaching is calm, practical, and grounded, while also honouring the deeper contemplative traditions that have shaped his path.

Rather than presenting mindfulness as a technique alone, Terry invites people into a more embodied relationship with practice. Awareness becomes something that can be felt in the breath, expressed through movement, strengthened through reflection, and carried into ordinary moments.

This is the foundation of his work with Mindfulness for Life, a structured 21-day experience designed to support guided listening, reflective learning, journalling, and mindful movement through Seven Harmonies Qigong.

About Terry J. Hodgkinson

Terry J. Hodgkinson is a Meditation and Mindful Movement Educator, martial arts teacher, retreat leader, and creator of the Mindfulness for Life 21-Day Experience. He teaches with the Integrative Wellbeing Institute and brings more than four decades of personal practice, teaching, study, and travel into his work.

His path has been shaped by a lifelong interest in meditation, martial arts, Qigong, breathwork, contemplative practice, psychology, Eastern wisdom traditions, and the relationship between mind, body, emotion, and awareness.

Over the years, Terry has owned and operated martial arts schools, teaching students not only physical skill, but also discipline, focus, confidence, respect, and inner steadiness. He currently continues this work through Chung Fu Martial Arts and Meditation School, where movement, mindfulness, and personal development come together as part of a living practice.

Terry’s teaching has also been deeply influenced by travel, retreat, and direct experience. Time spent in places such as India and China has helped deepen his appreciation for Daoist and Buddhist traditions, meditation, mindful movement, and the quiet wisdom that comes through lived practice rather than theory alone.

As a Retreat Leader with Tao Journeys, Terry supports people in stepping away from the noise of daily life and returning to presence through meditation, movement, reflection, nature, and meaningful connection.

Through Living Mindfully, Terry offers practical teachings and guided experiences that help people cultivate awareness, emotional resilience, clarity, and a steadier way of meeting life. His work is grounded in the understanding that mindfulness is not simply something we practise while sitting quietly. It is something we learn to embody in the way we breathe, move, listen, speak, relate, and live.

Teaching Philosophy

Terry believes that meaningful growth happens through steady practice, patience, curiosity, and self-honesty. His work encourages people to slow down, listen inwardly, reconnect with the body, and meet life with greater presence.

Whether teaching meditation, martial arts, Qigong, or retreat practice, Terry’s intention is to help people return to what is steady within themselves.

Keep noticing. Keep flowing. Keep becoming.
